“can play to anything, and will try anything” (Tricky, Pitch Perfect PR)

Marie-Claire Schlameus, aka mcchaos, is a classically trained cellist, vocalist, and sound artist who has specialized in reshaping how the cello can sound within the world of experimental pop music.

She specializes in performing euphoric warm orchestral loops and warped, glitched synth-like sounds generated directly from her instrument using pedals, software, and the Mattheus Bech pickup system, which captures a studio-mic quality tone that allows her to perform with power and clarity on all kinds of club to arena stages. As a touring musician, MC reshapes the role of the cello on modern pop stages- transforming it into a cinematic, full-spectrum instrument while performing backing vocals at the same time.

MC is a founder and core member of the experimental pop string-trio toechter and experimental-noir band sometimes with others.

Live, she performs worldwide with artists like Agnes Obel and Casper. In the studio, she has collaborated with Ólafur Arnalds, Agnes Obel, Meret Becker, Swans, and Tricky. MC produces and records with her specific setup most likely for film, dance, and bands. She currently resides in Berlin with her family.
