Marie-Claire Schlameus, aka mcchaos, is a classically trained cellist and singer based in Berlin and Helsinki . She explores the full percussive and lyrical range of her instrument and voice to create music. In addition to working as an arranger for bands, films, and theatrical productions, she is a founder and core member of the projects toechter and sometimes with others.
Since 2022, she has been a member of the new live bands of Danish artist Agnes Obel and German rapper Casper, contributing vocals, cello, loop station, and synth. She has performed with artists such as Sigur Rós, Gyða Valtýsdóttir, Bright Eyes, Thundercat, The Cinematic Orchestra, Manu Delago, and Miguel Atwood-Ferguson. MC has played shows and festivals across Europe, the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand. In the studio, she has collaborated with Agnes Obel, Swans, Ólafur Arnalds, and Tricky.
MC studied violoncello and chamber music at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig. She writes and produces from her home studio and at Funkhaus. With an intuitive approach, she effortlessly navigates a wide range of musical genres, making each piece uniquely her own.
